One teacher, no shortcuts, nothing outsourced

Lygon Music School started with a plan to make lessons feel like part of the neighbourhood rather than a transaction. That's still the plan — every lesson, from a first-timer's guitar basics to advanced production work in Logic Pro, is taught personally by Matthew, not handed off to junior staff.

Few teachers bring a Conservatorium education, a composition degree, study under a player of Sebastian Jorgensen's calibre, and over a thousand live shows to the same lesson. That combination — stage experience alongside formal training — shapes the teaching here, for students aged eight through adult, complete beginner through advanced.

Lessons run online and, as of this year, in person at the new studio at 1 Bell Street, Seddon — a space distinctive enough that magazines have asked to photograph it.
